DIDIMA WALKS AND HIKES

 

RAINBOW GORGE - 4 HOURS RETURN

Start at the Conference Centre and follow the signs up th hill. turn left at the first junction and follow the path to the Gorge
Distance 6.5 km
Walking time 3 hours return.
Difficulty - moderately strenuos

 

DOREE FALLS - 2 HOURS RETURN
Go up "steps". bear right. up hill. then down to Nhlonhlo River. do not cross the river.
Keep to pathway on left goin up river.
At sign Cleft Peak/Contour Path and Doreen Falls turn right. cross river. turn sharp left up steps

 

BABOON ROCK - 4 HOURS RETURN

Park at the "Hikers Parking" next to the Hotel boom gate.
Walk up to the road for 150 m.
Follow the Golf Club sign. cross the river over the causeway and walk up past the Golf Club House. keep left up hill. walk above the golf green number and pick up the path going to the right.
Follow it to Baboon Rock.
Caution should be taken along this route as there are steep rock faces in places.
Return the same way to the park

 

MUSHROOM ROCK - 4 HOURS RETURN

Park at the "Hikers Parking" next to the Hotel boom gate follow the path as for Doreen Falls. however do not turn left at the sharp turn going up to Doreen Falls. keep going along the path for another 750 metres where you find the sign pointing to the left up to Mushroom Rock.
From the ridge there's magnificent views of the main berg that can be enjoyed.
I t must be noted that there is a section of path to Mushroom Rock which is dangerous.
Return the same way to the park.
Distance 8 km.
Difficulty - strenous.

 

NEPTUNES'S POOLS. MARBLE BATHS. XENI CAVE AND BLUE POOLS - 5 HOURS RETURN

Park at the"Hikers Parking" next to the Hotel boom gate and follow the signs.

From Cathedral Peak Hotel. Blue Pools are 1.5 km; Neptune's Pools and Xeni cave are 5 km further up the river from Neptune's Pool are Marble Baths.

 

MHLWAZINI / NDEDEMA HIKE - 4 HOURS RETURN

Pick-up and drop-off available at reception.
From th fisrt cattle grid when entering the reserve. follow the jeep track up to Solar Cliffs Game Guard outpost. follow footpath up river to campsite
